Summary
After the events of HLVRAI, Gordon shelves Half-Life for good. Or so he thinks; his viewers are dropping like flies now that he doesn't have a gimmick. But when he discovers Benrey festering away on his hard drive, he thinks he's found the perfect solution: his fans get to see Benrey again, he gets to pay back his student loans, and Benrey doesn't explode his computer out of boredom.
It's a win-win scenario. What could go wrong?

The Crisis is as follows: in a month’s time, he’s initiated the resonance cascade, had his arm forcibly removed, fought an eldritch abomination, had his arm forcibly reattached, and jerked off with the same eldritch abomination that had just been trying to kill him not a few weeks before. It’s a lot to take in.
And now he's got an invitation to come over and "play some Street Fighter". Gordon’s not totally goddamn clueless. He’s heard of subtext before. That doesn’t mean he has to like it, he thinks aggressively. If he just keeps thinking it, maybe that strange, electric thrill in the pit of his stomach will buzz off.

It was then that he realized just how unnaturally silent the forest was. The only sound to be heard was Gordon’s own heavy breathing as he turned from side to side. It was as if every animal was collectively frozen, holding their breath as they hid out of sight. The air hung heavy in the air, thrumming with a nervous energy as not a single breeze went by. It felt as though time had stopped and Gordon was caught in a loop, unknowing until just then.
A twig snapped in the distance. Gordon spun around and faced the noise.
In the distance among the tree line was a tall and dark shadow, unnaturally still.
