The first Mecha Man to grace L.A. was titled Mecha Man Prime, being the first in the legacy of non-powered humans to make a difference as a hero. The second Mecha Man named himself Astral and made his debut in L.A. as the leader of a group of heroes.
Robert was supposed to be the third Mecha Man. His father would have wanted that for him, but disappointing his father isn't new to him anyway.
In Robert's defense, he had a very valid crash out after his dad was murdered a decade ago. In his opinion, this leads to his very reasonable agenda of hunting down the man who murdered him. It sucks, because it's his target is beloved by the entire damn State.
L.A.'s third Mecha Man, Elliot Connors.

Vox's demonic true form was a virus. A computer virus. So much for being a television-head. Of course, Vox had upgraded past mere television decades ago, but this? This was... Actually... Something Velvette could use. "They hacked you," she whispered. "They announced to everyone that they hacked you! Heaven tried to start a broadcast through your channels." Yes, yes, the Vees could salvage this. "And then you got a virus!" She laughed. "They took control!"
"It was me," Vox muttered. "All me, my fault. Parasite."
Or: Velvette is trying to figure out how to salvage the situation to keep the Vees in power. Valentino doesn’t know how to handle the public scrutiny that Velvette is talking about; he just wants the Vees’ relationship to go back to normal. Meanwhile Vox just wishes they had let him die.

So yeah, it was easy to forget that she owned his soul. The few times she's appeared to ask something of him she never demanded anything difficult. Just watch Hell and always be ready for her to ask for something bigger. But she never did.

Lucifer is absolutely ecstatic when Charlie offers to include a permanent set of quarters just for him in the blueprints for the brand new Hazbin Hotel. Getting to see his little girl for as many meals a day as he remembers to eat is great! Except sometimes that number of meals is exactly zero, and other times he sees her but doesn’t quite manage to follow the whole conversation, but—it’s all group hangouts full of chatter from her little friends around these parts anyways! He’s sure that it’s hardly noticeable! ...He really hopes that it’s hardly noticeable.

And it was no one’s fault but his own that she had to look for connection and love in people better suited for giving it.
He was supposed to be trying for her. He was supposed to be getting better—
His hands squeeze over the spearhead, feeling the give of his gloves as it slices down into his hands. Golden blood spills down his arms, lines of ichor racing to pool in the creases of his elbows. It’s—grounding, almost, to feel the pain wrack through him.
(Or, Lucifer falls back into isolation after Extermination Day. Charlie is left to pick up the pieces.)

Lucifer doesn't think very highly of sinners, if he's being honest. And he is. Out loud, at length, mostly in the presence of one particularly insufferable bellhop. Charlie, on the other hand, seems to really have a lot of faith in some of them. Now that Lucifer is residing in the Hazbin Hotel, though, he needs to... well, start getting to know the has-beens, at least for his daughter's sake! As irredeemable and pointless as the whole thing probably is.
Piece of cake! He was there when humans were made, after all. He already knows everything of worth there is to know about them!

Summary
Lucifer is very aware that certain aspects of personal grooming tend to go out the window for him on bad days (or weeks—or months). He does his best to keep up with it—he really does! It's just that the more visible things like his hair and clothes get priority, and by the times he realizes what a disaster his living space has become, or even worse, his wings...
Things were easier when he was living alone and there was nobody else around to notice things like the powder down that he scatters all over the place when he hasn't preened himself properly in too long. At least, they were until someone reaches out a helping hand.
