Summary
He wants to tell Ghost that none of them fear him. He wants to say that he loves him– not the same as Soap, but a deep, river-run way all the same, a kind of erosion in his chest that gave way to the soft earth underneath. Gaz trusts Ghost with his life, and then some.
He doesn’t say any of those things. Ghost isn’t ready to hear them yet, but Gaz meets his eyes in the mirror with a soft, proud smile and he hopes that Simon feels some of the message all the same.

Summary
His captain apparently felt the same. "You can't find someone other than Ghost?"
The look that crossed Laswell's face was strangely predatory. "I need my subject matter expert to have someone he trusts on his six for this. These people aren't above petty bullshit with this type of money involved."
Well, that explained why Soap had been summoned as well. At least the Powers That Be had figured out separating them on field assignments was a shite idea.
He rolled his eyes, straightened. Soap gave him a side-eye, a subtle drop of his chin. A sign of assent, maybe, or a sign of commiseration over a job that was only a hair better than rookie duty.
"What do I need to brush up on?" Might as well do some catch-up reading to play the part better.
The hair on the back of his neck prickled as Laswell's predatory look shifted into something sickly sweet. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Lieutenant. You're playing bodyguard. Sergeant MacTavish, I need you to brush upon your chemical formulas and molecular markers. I'll be in touch with homework."

Summary
Soap's fingers fumbled with the edge of his shirt, lifted the hem to his collarbones, showing off the expanse of scarred, muscled skin. There was a red spot on his side, small flecks of black and blue already rising to the surface. Ghost's eyes diverted from the affected area of skin for just a moment, taking in the hard planes of Soap's toned abdomen, the pink slashes of healed-up scar tissue.
The urge to reach out and touch him hit Ghost like a freight train. He was tied to the tracks and the wheels were barreling right over him, making a mess of his blood and guts and grinding them into bits. Ghost clenched his fists to suppress the desire and cleared his throat, choking down his panic over the unexpected reaction.
"You're bruising already," Ghost said. "Should probably get ice on that. Sorry, I didn't realize how rough I was being."
Soap grinned. "I'm a big boy, a little roughhousing never hurt anyone."
"It hurt you. Literally."
He turned to look at Ghost then, eyebrows raised and a smirk on his face. "A wee bit of pain isn't the end of the world. I prefer it, under the right circumstances."

Summary
He couldn’t be that.
He wasn’t soft and remorseful — hell — he wasn’t even a good man on his better days. He was a shambling, unsightly thing with the way his port wine stain stretched across his nose and cheeks like an answer someone hadn’t been able to erase.
But he wanted it, a traitorous voice whined from the dark recesses of his mind. God, did he want it. That wicked, horrible thing in his chest begged to be heard, but it spat nothing but half-baked fantasies. It reminded him softly of the child he used to be — with a heart a little too big — who wanted the boys and their flowers, the chocolates, the Hallmark movies, the consistency of a partner, and their steadfast love.
“I want him,” Soap had said with his eyes turned toward heaven.
Ghost longed in a way that made that terrible creature in his chest keen for attention.
“I just don’t know if he wants me too.”
Not like how I want him.
. . .
Out on a mission after Makarov’s death, Ghost is made to define the domestic life he’s since built with Soap, and just what they both want from each other this Valentine’s Day.

Summary
Ghost has a history, he has to, right? And Soap doesn't know nearly as much as he'd like, but that's alright with him. Man's entitled to some secrets, isn't he?
That's fine, right up until Soap decides to bust out his sweet red skull mask for a mission and oops! He's not the only one! Mace has a red mask, too, and a history with Ghost, and he isn't shy about letting Soap know about it.
Don't be fooled though, this is actually a story of how Ghost ended up with a red skull mask.
When the season five trailer that included cowboy Ghost in a red mask dropped, I initially thought it was Mace. And I took that to an angsty conclusion, as I often do.

His lips left your skin and he glanced up at you before he took one of your legs, lifting it up and over his shoulder as he shifted down your body. “Has a man ever made you come before, sweetheart?”
You swallowed, watching him kiss down your belly. “No.”
He chuckled cockily. “Well, let’s change that.”
