He won’t have to stare at the blank, unloving walls of his home where his parents walk unseeingly, with haunted eyes. He won’t have to swallow back the hurt, the jealousy, the betrayal he felt when Maddie would inevitably leave him behind again.
And then Evan slammed on the gas and never looked back.
