Alhaitham raised an extremely incredulous eyebrow. “I had been labouring under the impression that we were at least friends, but please feel free to correct this misunderstanding of mine.”
Kaveh gaped. “That’s not what I meant and you know that!” he exclaimed, crossing his arms, “I just... you... it’s nothing like you!”
Alhaitham chuckled, oddly amused by this turn of events. “That’s why it’s called fiction, Kaveh.”The newest installment of his favourite light novel series had just released, and Kaveh can't stop talking about it. Alhaitham does not know how to feel about this turn of events.

Summary
Shortly after a new council of Sages is appointed at the Akademiya, they unearth a database of all the dreams that were harvested from the people of Sumeru. In what is intended to be an act of goodwill, the council plans to offer the citizens the chance to collect special Dream Capsules containing the dreams that were stolen from them.
As Acting Grand Sage, Alhaitham is invited—tasked, really—to be the first to trial his Dream Capsule. He doesn’t know what to expect, and doesn’t know whether to be disappointed when he finds that many of his old dreams don’t seem much different from the dreams he has been having ever since the Akasha was disabled.
His past and present dreams of Kaveh, shifting like the sands over the years, appear to be the exception.

“I propose,” he declares, pointing now, “a challenge.”
Alhaitham raises a brow. “Do you.”
“I do,” Kaveh insists, like he’s at the altar, like this isn’t a wedding proposal in the worst disguise known to man. “An academic competition. You, me, one topic, one week. Separate workspaces, no cheating, no manipulation, no influencing the judging committee with your absurdly shaped shoulders—”
“Thank you,” Alhaitham interrupts. “I’ve been working out.”
“I wasn’t complimenting you—shut up.”
Or, how two emotionally constipated scholars waged epistemological war instead of just kissing.

“You are being unreasonable,” Zhongli observed, with all the mildness of someone who was being exceptionally unreasonable himself.
Childe, through sheer force of will, did not commit a war crime right then and there. “I am being unreasonable?” he repeated, incredulous. “You are the one who whipped out legal documentation instead of my dick—”
“I fail to see why we cannot do both,” Zhongli interrupted, and Childe’s soul momentarily left his body.
There was a moment of silence in which Childe had to physically reassemble his brain cells, which had all scattered to the wind in sheer distress.
"Morax," Childe said, invoking the name like an exasperated prayer. "I am already naked."
Or, Childe just wants some action, but Zhongli insists on reading the fine print first.

Venti straightens, mimicking Zhongli’s refined voice: "Ah yes, this Harbinger is so frustrating, he constantly buys me things, dotes on me, challenges me in battle, calls me attractive, feeds me with his own two hands, kisses my forehead before running off into the sunset—" Venti breaks off, wheezing. "Oh Archons, how are you this oblivious?"
In which Zhongli rants about his Harbinger boyfriend. Venti is both exasperated and amused.

“I am told,” she begins, in the voice of someone who has had exactly enough, “that you are sleeping with my Harbinger.”
Childe wheezes beside him.
Zhongli—because he has no shame and no survival instinct whatsoever—straightens, smiles politely, and says, “I would not call it sleeping, Your Majesty.”
Childe actively dies.
A voice from the corner whispers, “Oh my god,” followed by a terrified Fatui agent fainting into a decorative pillar.
Zhongli continues, calm as a relic in a museum that’s never seen war: “It is more accurate to say that we engage in frequent cohabitation and occasional, enthusiastic ritualistic bonding activities. Of a horizontal nature.”
In which Childe learns that introducing your ancient, elegant boyfriend to your terrifying ice-mother-queen is not as great as it sounds.
