Jason should have left. Should have just aborted the mission and come back another time when Tim wasn't around. That was the smart play. The tactical play. But curiosity was a bitch, and Jason found himself moving toward the sound instead of away from it. He peered around the doorframe and saw Tim in his office, pacing like a caged animal with at least five empty coffee cups scattered across his desk. The kid looked like he hadn't slept in a week. Damian stands still as a statue for exactly ten seconds, his grip on his swords knuckle-white. Then he very firmly nods.

He felt it— warmth. The blanket tucked gently over him. A hand resting lightly between his shoulder blades. And a quiet presence in the dark.
Jason bit his lips and turned, facing Dick, and smushed his face into the older man’s chest, like he could hide from the world there.
Dick didn't push him away— just wrapped his arms around Jason like this was a normal thing between them. Then, softly, he said, “You're safe, Little Wing. I’ve got you. All the time.”
No questions. No judgment. Just steady comfort, quiet and real.
And he let himself believe Dick’s words, melting under his touch as he succumbed to sleep.
Maybe having a big brother wasn't so bad after all.
Everyone has nightmares. Jason has them way before Robin. Bruce was the one who kept them at bay— until Dick slowly became more present in his life. Until they grew closer.
Then, after coming back from the dead, Jason had no one to turn to when the nightmares hit. Not until he and the Bats were on decent terms two years later did he find himself seeking out for Dick— like the kid who died years ago, quietly looking for comfort from his older brother.
