Summary
It’s the night before the full moon, and as is traditional, Wakatoshi is watching Tendou cook dinner in the tiny shitty kitchen of their dorm. Everyone who attends Shiratorizawa is magical in some way, and the closer they get to the full moon, the more restless the students are. Some people get overly friendly at this time, like Goshiki, who comes up with excuse after excuse to hang out with friends. Some get solitary, like Shirabu, who dens up in his room and refuses to come out for anything. Some have specific rituals they observe, like rewatching the same movie or running extra laps or taking the longest shower they can get away with. Tendou cooks for the team.

“I’m not a demon, right?” Shang Qinghua says, and it comes out squeaky with confusion and disbelief. A demon wouldn’t sound like that, surely?
“Go look in the mirror,” Mobei-jun says.
Shang Qinghua throws the covers off and dashes to the mirror on the far side of the room. His eyes, formerly brown, have turned to a bright, shining gold. For a moment he think he sees the glow of a demonic mark on his forehead, but when he turns his head the shimmer fades. He stares in the mirror, and his reflection in the mirror winks.

Summary
Wakatoshi always wakes up before Tendou.
He doesn’t know why, or how. Maybe there's an alarm inside of him, or perhaps his body knows that it’s the only chance he’ll get to pretend he has what he wants.
Dawn is his favorite time of day. Mornings are sacred, that brief window of the crackling dawn, because he has Tendou.
Just as he always wakes up before Tendou, so true is one other thing: Tendou always leaves.
Wakatoshi is in love with his best friend and believes there's no way Tendou feels the same in return. Instead of doing anything about it, they get stuck in a cycle of hook-ups, and every morning Wakatoshi listens to Tendou leave while he pretends to sleep.
This'll never change, he believes. Until one day Tendou stays a little later, just to watch him rest.

Summary
As awe-inspiring and genius at volleyball as he is, Ushijima Wakatoshi is also a little bit dense. Tendou thinks it’s cute.
“Mm, but there are other ways to get exercise. You just gotta think outside the box,” Tendou says. He bites down on his lip to suppress a giddy smile, long fingers hovering over the hem of Ushijima’s shirt.
“I...have been told I’m not very good at that.”
Tendou is 100% percent sure what he and Ushijima have is purely physical. Fortunately, their first tryst away from school proves that Tendou's guesswork isn't always accurate.

Both will work to make the other realize there’s not.
