Summary
The consequences of heroism vary, from adoration and media coverage to the destruction of property. The less spoken about consequences - the long term injuries - are something that Sonic keeps as hidden as possible, the cards close to his chest.
It takes one wrong move to reveal his secret pain to his rival (crush, but shush Tails, it's not important), and if Sonic could think through the fog, he'd be mortified.
Too bad he can't.

Nightwing groaned before pushing himself up onto his elbows. His hair had splayed out around him, the thick curls cascading down his back longer than he’d ever seen it.
Jason reached out a hand to help but froze as they met each other’s gaze. The face staring back didn’t belong to Dick. Instead, he greeted one of the most beautiful women he’d ever laid eyes on.
