"Listen.” Mira huffed. “We just want a vacation man. Can you like, at least give us a break until the new year?”
The hiatus was supposed to be simple, it was supposed to be fun! Instead, when a new breed of demon attempts to attack HUNTR/X, Mira jokes and the demon takes her request a little too literally. Throwing the trio into a void and displacing them by 26 years, to a time when the Sunlight Sisters were at the peak of their popularity.
Maybe the Saja Boys were just proving that history repeats itself.

The woman smirked faintly, her eyes fluttering closed. “You don’t even know the half of it, princess.”
“Fine, then! You can bleed all by yourself because I’m not going to share my cell with-with—” Glinda sputtered, struggling to form a coherent thought to describe the woman in front of her.
“What happened? Run out of insults?” the woman rasped, trying to smirk through gritted teeth as she clutched her side. “Want me to help you?”

It was wishful thinking. It had to be the truth. Glinda may not know much but she knew performance, and the more she thought about it the better it fit. Elphaba’s death didn’t make sense. Glinda had seen it with her own eyes and had stupidly believed that was proof it had happened.
Elphaba’s melting shadow had been wearing the hat. Glinda wasn’t sure of the scientification of melting, but surely either all or none of her clothes should have melted. Surely Elphaba herself shouldn’t have melted. Fiyero’s body was missing, and Elphaba’s hat was in her hands.
Glinda stared at herself in the mirror. Her eyes were bloodshot, and she realized she must have been crying. She looked crazy. It didn’t matter.
Elphaba was alive.

Summary
“Glinda, then,” Dulcibear sighs. “I’m afraid I know very little of the subject. You would be better served asking a fellow human on these sorts of matters.”
“What? I am truly, quite, unbelievably certain that is not so. It can only be you, Dulci.”
Dulcibear blinks but largely ignores the nickname. Largely; she still grunts in some displeased way, yet nothing is said to rebuke her. “I am not versed in bear courtship, much less that of humans. I simply can not help you.”
Glinda, of course, hears only what she wants to hear. Impressive, in this case, considering none of what has been said has been what she’s wanted to hear. At all. “But you raised her. The Wicked Witch of the West. That’s what they say. You must know why she did it. You must.”
Or, Elphaba never arrives at Shiz, never joins its student body. Never does a lot of things, still does many others. Now, the Wicked Witch is dead. All of Oz has heard the news; heard it and rejoiced. But Galinda finds the conclusion lacking, and searches for some of her own.

At first, it was an idle thought, a daydream that Glinda afforded herself on quiet nights when she was alone in the palace.
What wonders could magic work? She had heard legends of heroes brought back from the nother side, of Wizards and Witches strong enough to defy death itself.
It was a silly, self-indulgent thought, of course. She didn’t have enough magic in her to flicker a torch, much less work miracles.
But there was an ache in her, it lived in her ribs. It was unlike anything she had ever experienced.
By the time she was writing letters to Elphaba, she had to admit that the project had become less of an idle pastime and more of a secretly fevered obsession.
[Or: Glinda takes up a secret project to resurrect the Wicked Witch of the West. This doesn't work for two reasons, of course, but it still brings her back to Elphaba.]
