Robert loved his father, he really did. But the only thing which could make the destruction of the Mech and his entire legacy worse, Robert decided, would be if his dad was here to see it. He might be temporarily retired as a superhero, drowning in thousands of dollars of credit card debt, fighting through chronic pain, unable to take revenge for his father’s killer, and working as the barely respected leader of a group of superpowered assholes… but at least he didn’t have to deal with that.
Or, Robert “Robbie” Robertson II gets transported to the future to witness his son at two steps above rock-bottom. Nobody takes it well.

Robert had an ‘X’ crossed over his heart like someone had taken a knife to it and unfolded the skin out like the petals of a flower to drive their fingers in between the gaps of his ribcage.
He was thinner than Sonar had initially guessed from looking at the way his uniform hung from his body. Rail thin and gangly in all the wrong places. He had muscle, of course, more than Sonar had expected to find, but no part of him looked healthy.
…He looked young.
“This isn’t a show, by the way,” the dispatcher ground out as he finally turned his head back to where Sonar was slack-jawed staring. “Didn’t your mother teach you not to stare?”
. . .
Months pass, and Sonar learns to map out the soft parts of Robert...How long will he have, though, before the consequences of Robert’s secrecy catch up to him?
Exhausted and with nowhere else to turn, will his walls finally come crumbling down?

A Large Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte with oat milk, two pumps of vanilla syrup, one pump of white mocha sauce, strawberry purée, topped with caramel drizzle and light ice.
The worst order ever.
But… it brought something nice during an absolute shit show of a day.
Micah’s been working at the Stagbucks in Torrance for about a year now. It was the only job he could get after being released from prison, and of course it had to be in one of the worst areas in California. Still… it paid.
He was permitted to use his powers if it benefited the business, which it definitely did. Having Micah on the clock meant nothing happened to the building. Which meant they could stay open during crises.
Like when the Red Ring tried to blow Torrance off the face of the Earth.
Fortunately, it also meant he got to meet some interesting people.
Like the freaky bat guy who had to stop everything he was doing… just to pick up a coffee.
