At first, Elliot thought he liked seeing people happy. The excitement when people see Elliot bring them their orders, the way their faces lit up when biting into their first slice of pizza, the fuzzy feeling he got when they said “thank you.” The other employees were more appreciative to see a customer tip higher than $5, but it didn’t feel genuine to him. It was the icing on the cake of a job well done, and the pizza boy took pride in that. He was able to believe that for a while.
