The name displayed made him pick up immediately.

“Hey Mama.” A voice spoke through the call, slightly muffled and almost whispered, the boy’s familiar voice shaky as he spoke.
Familiar. So familiar Kaoru was sure he must have heard it daily, but the kid sounded young, fourteen at most, and Kaoru didn’t know anyone around that age.

And now it seemed, as Kaoru stepped out and was welcomed into warm arms, arms that wrapped around him and held him close, close enough for soft lips to press against the top of his head, he had it.
Because he could feel everything.
The spark of electricity up his spine, the warmth where their skin pressed together, Kojiro’s heartbeat against his own body.
Nothing about this was fake.
But it couldn’t possibly be real.

He crouched on the edge of a building and watched as Altin pulled up on his motorcycle. He was in so much shit for not telling him about that.
He whistled softly and watched as Altin looked up. He waved at him and Altin gestured for him to come down. And who was he to say no to that?
He shimmied down the side of the building, hopping down the last few feet and landing in a crouch. He looked up and Altin handed him a helmet.
"Hey there Altin. Fancy meeting you here."
Altin just nodded once and gestured to the back of the motorcycle, a clear indication for him to get on.
Lilia would kill him. Yakov would dig up his remains and set them on fire. But Altin gave him a helmet, plus he had met him once or twice at some competitions even if they didn't talk every time.
He got on.

Summary
Jonathan left his room, quickly to avoid any unwanted attention and opened the door to his brother's room. As soon as he closed the door, the smell of spoiled milk hit his nose and he struggled not to gag. Will was sitting curled up on his bed, surrounded by pillows and blankets. He was trying to cover his ears to stop the yelling, but it clearly wasn’t working. His shoulders were shaking as he hesitantly made eye contact with Jonathan, eyes misty from unshed tears and something in him just broke.
Before he could even think, he was across the room, scooping Will up into his arm. He was still a little coherent at this point and instantly began soothing, “Hey buddy, you alright? Don’t worry, you’re all good. How about we start building Castle Byers now, like we talked about? That could be fun, right?” His scent glands were working overtime trying to produce the nicest, most calming scent, not realising that it was changing into something new by the second, the scent of sweet peppermint filling the air around them.
