Summary

When he confirmed he was whole and unwounded, he snuck out to a river in the middle of the night to wash himself or drown himself, whichever came first. He didn’t look at his reflection– he didn’t want to know what a horrifying sight he must have been. He submerged himself completely, trying his hardest to clean the dirt and blood and who knows what else from his hair, his skin, and his robes. The water ran red and brown, and he didn’t leave the river until several hours later, when the stench of dried blood had lessened enough to be bearable. He thought maybe he’d drowned in the water. He crawled, dripping wet and shivering, to a meadow hidden in the woods, where he lay hoping that the sun would dry him off tomorrow.
It was there, the next day, that the red fox found him.

Summary
Haemotribune. It was such a fucking old-fashioned word. Rich people were obsessed with Latin, and with having a silly little name for everything. Lucius tended to refer to himself, somewhat tongue-in-cheek, as a caterer. A provider of food for the discerning vamp, a little sumptuous treat, the finest their abundant money could buy.
A vampire AU that loosely follows season one canon, with some significant divergences. The main pairings are Lucius/Izzy and Ed/Stede - certain chapters might focus more heavily on one or the other but their stories are intertwined and can't really be separated.
The setting is a world in which vampires exist and are known about. In this world, a well to do vampire might hire or otherwise obtain a human for non-lethal, occasional blood drinking purposes on an ongoing basis. Such a human would be known as a haemotribune (with thanks to @DarkDancer72 for suggesting the name).
Huge thanks to wonderful beta readers @tardigrape and @kate_rtot and to @Vee (Vera_DragonMuse) for plot help and encouragement.
This is the longest, plottiest fic I've ever written, and I really hope someone out there gets some enjoyment from reading it :)
