Various residents of the senior living village have been reported missing. Windows were sent to investigate and confirm the presence of cursed energy within the grounds. A few miles out, there was a little orange light flickering. Far too big and color-saturated to be a star. Too low to the ground. Ray squinted at it, then realized that it was a fire. Once he saw that, he could make out the silhouette of what was burning: a farm house.
That’s a beacon, he thought deliriously. Untethered dream logic. He could somehow see the rising smoke through the sheets of rain, through the darkness of night. It was a signal. It was for him.
