Over dinner that night, her dad says, “So you like suits, huh?” There’s a hesitation in his voice but she knows he’s teasing her.
She blushes and nods. When she ducks her head, the hair spills out over her face. Her scalp feels itchy and warm, like she’s back to the year she did theatre, and had to wear a wig for so long that she’d sweated through the bald cap and wanted to cry and rip the hair off her head.
She scratches behind her ear and straightens her shoulders a little, tucking a chunk of hair out of the way. Think about Kingskin, she tells herself resolutely. Think about Steven. “Yeah,” she says. “I like suits.”
“Well, I think that’s swell,” her dad says. He doesn’t say anything for a long moment, chewing on his next bite thoughtfully. “Hey,” he asks, “you want me to show you how to do a necktie?”

In Filk Broken Telephone, you receive written lyrics for a filk and the song it's based on, from someone else, and then you write your own filk inspired by that filk! When you're finished, you send your lyrics to the next person and the process repeats until all group members are finished. Because Mystery Box is so short and nine people were interested, we each had only 24 hours to come up with lyrics and pass them along!

But Dorian's grown complacent over these past weeks of traveling, used to companionship, and now he's stuck in an unknown city, far from home and very much alone. He skirts close to the walls as he walks back towards the main street, staying flush to the buildings for fear of being seen by someone evil. Or something.
I'll be fine. Opal will be rescued, and we'll all be fine.
It's a lie, but at least it's a comforting one. Dorian's good at telling himself those, when push comes to shove.
