Three sodas, a complimentary sencha with lunch, and a bottle of water later and Umezawa’s back teeth are floating.
Every time he attempts to excuse himself to the nearest restroom however, Ippo tells him they’re running late for the next item on their stacked itinerary. And every time Umezawa tells himself it’s fine - that he’ll go when they get to the next place. At the arcade. At the department store. At lunch.
And now Ippo says they’re going to the zoo.
Umezawa is never going to say sorry. Ippo is never going to ask him to. What ensues is an erotic, unspoken compromise.
Or, a day out with his best friend ends with Umezawa on his knees in an alley.

Loosely inspired by a meme I saw re: a pair of guys pretending to be gay to scam the gym under the family discount package
“U-Umezawa-kun..!” Ippo squeaks, adopting a submissive little bow. Oh yeah, this guy’s definitely a fruit. “Do you…go to this gym..?” he chances with a gulp.
“Uhh, no?” Umezawa squints. “What the hell gave you that idea?”
“Oh..! I just…” and then Ippo whispers what sounds a lot like ‘you’re really strong’ before he goes on to ask, “so why are you here?”
“It’s a free country?! Jeez!” Umezawa runs a hand over his face, flustered.

Summary
A myriad of expressions cross the detective’s face in the span of a few seconds. And then his posture shifts, and Miles has to force himself not to shrink away, his head craning back instead — that slouch is all of a sudden gone, and Dick (‘that’s not Dick,’ Miles reels) stands nigh-on a foot taller.
And it’s… imposing. Frightening. Like some alien, malicious…thing is now wearing Dick’s skin. Once warm, kindly eyes now glimmer with a dark brand of intelligence, and Miles swallows, his throat impossibly tight and his pulse thundering in his ears.
It’s not Dick.
It never was.

“The stigma,” he carries on, unmoved by Kuwabara’s antics.
