The voice that responded was much softer than he’d expected. The man gently pulled Wei Wuxian’s hands down and inclined his head slightly.
“...Wei-gongzi?”
Wei Wuxian abruptly recoiled and fell to the ground. Any sleep that had addled his brain immediately dissolved at the realization that this person was definitely not his husband.

“Are you… feeling okay?”
The question is odd, but not enough to have him panic. Sometimes, before they let themselves be taken by slumber, Wei Ying’s thoughts and uncertainties got the best of him and Lan Wangji would ease his worries every single time. As many times as he needed.
“I am now that I have you in my arms.” Lan Wangji replied truthfully, hugging his husband tighter to his chest.
Wei Wuxian chuckles against his chest, though something tells Lan Wangji that wasn’t enough. Though, before he could ask anything else, Wei Ying spoke once more. “That’s not what I mean… I mean, that’s good! I also feel more than okay in your arms. Thing is, I noticed something…” Lan Wangji waits silently, patiently for his husband to gather his thoughts. “You… while you made me beg for mercy, you just sounded a little bit out of breath...”
Or; Lan Zhan gets sick :(

His mother hums in acknowledgment, giving permission for her youngest child to ask the question that had been roaming freely in his head. He had to ask, it was serving as a huge distraction from his studies. Lips part open, though his voice comes out more hushed than he anticipated. “A-Niang… What… What color are the gentians in the garden?”
Or, no one can see true colors unless they touch their soulmate.

Then he realizes he’s probably been staring for a borderline creepy amount of time at this point, which is of course the moment Nico looks right back at him.
Percy feels a spike of… something in his chest, in that second of eye contact. Competition? Curiosity? Fear? Except, Percy doesn’t do fear. Doesn’t get scared, or nervous. Never backs down from anything, never quits, even midway through a trick he knows he's not going to land. It’s the one thing they get right about him on the news: Percy Jackson does not bail.
So he swallows it, and drops in.
