Summary
Sophia Diaz arrives at the 118 with a newborn and no desire to be a mother. She’s convinced (strongarmed) into staying. Eddie, Christopher, Buck, Sophia and her baby move in together and learn how to live with each other. Her desire to be a mom doesn’t miraculously develop, but she wants the baby to have a good loving family around her and she does find that. Diaz parents visit and try to take over briefly. Buck gets to choose and keep the family he looks forward to going home to every day. Buck/Eddie get together towards the end of the story but theres a lot of affection and comfort throughout. POV changes between Sophia, Eddie and Buck. Written as a comfort family feels fic. Mostly canon compliant but planned and half written before the end of season 7

“I switched with Ellis,” She said. “So, you’re stuck with me for the next three days.” Her steps faltered. “Finally?”
“Are you serious? I’ve been trying to poach you from day shift since PittFest.”
“Really?”
“Really.” His response was almost instant. “You were incredible. The IO borehole, the pigtail catheter; I’m going to be talking about that for the rest of my life. Of course I want you for night shift.”

“Uh, hey.” The guy blinks slowly and he is holding a piece of paper in his hands, glancing down at it and then back up at Buck with something very similar to the panic Buck was just feeling in the bathroom. “I think you might be my husband?” The guy croaks out, voice hoarse from just waking up and strained, breaking on the last word.
Buck glances down, his gaze shooting to the man's left hand and— yup, an identical plastic ring is on his finger. When Buck takes a step closer, the guy angles the piece of paper to the side, enough that Buck can read it's apparently a marriage certificate. It's signed sloppily and messily and he thinks that's his signature but it's all wobbly and the ink falls to the side like his hand slipped at the last second.
