Summary
When Cas became a human, Dean turned him away; first to protect Sam, then to keep Cas out of the world-ending mess that followed the Winchesters around, then because he was too ashamed to make things right. But Sam’s settled down with Eileen, the world looks like it won’t be ending any time soon, and Dean’s running out of excuses.
Cas isn’t happy to see him, but he reluctantly agrees to work together to get to the bottom of some strange deaths happening in his new hometown. Dean’s willing to do anything to apologize and see if he has a chance at fixing what broke between them all those years ago.

Summary
Being the person heading toward that, going down that road, it’s literally killing Cas. They might not even make it to the end of the road before he gets there. And Dean is fine making that decision for himself, but what kind of person has he become, that he’ll make it for Cas, too?
He thinks, for the first time, What the fuck am I doing here?
He can see it now, that there’s a third option. He isn’t going to save the world. He’s not going to kill the devil, he’s not going to get Sam back, he’s not going to change anything for everyone. But maybe he can change something for someone.

Summary
Cas’s fingertips held in his own, Dean brings the angel’s hand to his mouth, and presses his lips to Cas’s weathered knuckles.
It’s just a thank you. It’s just a way of saying thank you.
Of saying 'thanks, I know that having to do this shit all the time must annoy you, and I know that for some reason you’ve chosen to worry about me and I’m sorry that you have to, and also, I appreciate it.'
It took Dean years not to resent the help of Cas healing him. But slowly the resentment melts into tolerance, and again into thankfulness. And every time Cas touches Dean to heal him, he starts saying his thanks by repaying in touch. It starts with grazing his lips against Cas's knuckles, squeezing his hands, kissing the soft skin of his wrist.
It’s a way of saying thanks. And, he guesses, sorry.
Of saying, 'Sorry for scaring you. I don’t know how me being hurt could scare you like it always seems to. But it always seems to. And that scares me.'

Summary
When Dean thinks about it later, he could almost swear it had been raining the day Castiel left. But the rain came after. Castiel leaves on a day with no clouds, a day with golden sunlight warming Dean throughout. It happens without warning, like lightning striking out of a clear blue sky.
It’s raining when he throws his bags in the Impala and it’s raining when he turns on the interstate and it’s still raining when he hits the state line so he keeps on going. Dean drives and it rains, so he turns on his windshield wipers and watches raindrops sliding down the windshield and flicking away into the gray air, and he just keeps thinking that this can’t be happening. It just can’t.

Summary
Eddie Munson doesn't mind working at the Family Video Store. It's a nice sense of normalcy (not to mention money) and he gets to see Robin more because of it. However, between working together and sharing the same best friend, he's also been seeing a lot more of Steve Harrington.
He wants nothing more than to enjoy mindless fun with his friends now that everything with Vecna is over, but Eddie's finding it hard to move on from what happened. Even if the strangest thing in his life right now was simply the fact he and Steve Harrington might actually be friends.

Some part of Steve knows this is a dream. It’s that odd, off-center feeling, like he knows approximately what is real. Like looking at a picture and knowing someone was supposed to be standing in an empty space. He remembers the 1980 Hawkins Middle School Talent Show, but only vaguely.
After the fight with Vecna, Steve Harrington keeps listening to Eddie's Walkman. Keeps dreaming of Eddie. Each night brings a different scenario, another moment in their lives where Steve could have met him--could have become his friend. As the dreams continue, he realizes... they might not just be dreams.

Summary
An execution was not exactly on Merlin's bucket list, wasn't even what destiny had intended for him, but it would figure that Uther Pendragon's final act would be one last strike against magic. On the bright side—because Merlin's nothing if not desperate for silver linings—he gets to learn more about magic and its still existing community than the castle he has once called home could've ever offered him. And when he finally returns, things might've just changed enough for all of them to have a chance at a better future than fate had planned.
Arthur, for his part, really wants to catch a break, and to stop thinking about his late manservant. It should probably be less of a shock that it does not work out so neatly. Between concerning dreams, the realisation of just how wrong his father was—about nearly everything, really—and trying to deal with the loss of the person closest to him, Arthur learns a few things about making choices that aren't always easy, but right.
Or sometimes, things have to go downhill first before they get better, and if Uther had known about the eventual outcome, he might've changed his mind for once in his life.

Bucky darts forward suddenly, shaking his head. He puts his hand on her shoulder, then lays his palm flat on his chest—and then makes a fist and pounds it hard, twice, right over his heart. The look on his face is stern but fond, an expression Steve hasn't seen since 1943, directed at one or more of his sisters when they thought the world was ending over baseball scores, or their homework, or a boy; Bucky hadn't ever let anyone get away with self-pity. That look would usually be followed up by C'mon, pipsqueak, let's go for a walk, but what Steve guesses Bucky's saying now is more along the lines of: You didn't let me down.
