For prompt #1, confession.
The message comes at 3am but Idia’s still awake – of course he is. It comes to his old Night Raven College magicam address, not his new and official STYX one. He almost passes it by until he sees it’s from Leona Kingscholar. (His old inbox is almost full, Idia saved all the messages in it – some form Muscle Red, a few from Cater, a handful from Azul and of course the small thread of mail from Leona. Mostly it’s a series of times and dates for chess matches but there’s a few other times that past-Idia has put little emojis and faces next to. (High school was a different time, he was a different person, but it still makes him flush with embarrassment when he scrolls through and sees.)

He was in a cave, but he didn’t know that it was called a cave. To him it was just a larger, harder, scratchier egg. There was a hole above him, through which he could see the light of the sun… but he didn’t know what “light” or “sun” were yet, either. Aside from the harsh stone walls, the only other things he could see were… dozens and dozens of strange, squishy sacks. They were the same color as what he had seen in his egg, but it’s hard to make connections like that when you’ve literally just been born.

Summary
Finally, again, Leona gets to stay at NRC over winter break. He manages to put off Falena and Cheka’s requests to come home with third year obligations and working on internship stuff and whatever. None of it was true, but Falena is mollified by the fact that Leona will be home in the Sunset Savannah for an entire year after. Maybe he also realizes that this is Leona’s last bid at freedom, the ‘hurrah of your school days’ or whatever he had said.
Though, with all that’s happened in the year, going home might’ve been a welcome respite. Every day Leona sees traces of the Overblots in the stones and walls — on the pitch of the Spelldrive field, in the tables of the Mostro Lounge, honestly just everywhere because of Malleus fucking Draconia’s blessing. But it’s still preferable than being home where all he sees are his failures or things he can never hope to change.
