Summary
Simon Snow hasn't got a clue as to why he doesn't want to fight his vampire nemesis to the death. All he's got is a stupid plan to pretend that he and Baz are dating so that The Mage won't make them fight.
Baz Pitch has got an envelope bursting with money and a burning desire to enjoy whatever time he can with the boy he loves. What he hasn't got is any clue what goes through Simon's head.
The two form a truce and run away together for Christmas, eager to bask in the things the holiday ought to bring...while the threat of war breathes down their necks.Snow's blubbering stops short as he takes in the beauty of the hotel’s interior. The lighting is dim and warm, making the off-white walls gleam. The furnishings are wooden and well cared for, the polish immaculate. I can see several fireplaces at work with a cursory glance. Perhaps most lovely of all is the scent of fresh pine wafting from the various wreaths and garlands artfully hung about. There are little baubles and lights in them. I eagerly await evening, when the hotel surely becomes even cosier and dimmer—I’m certain the Christmas lights will look divine when twinkling in Snow’s eyes.

I got fangirl for Christmas and fell in love and then read Carry On and fell in more love and then finished Carry On and felt annoyed. That was it?! What happens next? And why was Baz so mean? On Christmas, right afterwards. At the ball. Does he understand Simon at all? And I was still upset about Penny leaving him for Christmas. And when was Simon going to figure out how unforgivably cruel he'd been for years, threatening to expose poor Baz, who was trying to figure out how to be a vampire without murdering his fucking roommate who was making it really, really hard.
So, yeah. Then there was this.

He tilted his head slightly so it was up against his errant fingers. “San Lang… have you ever been…” he trailed off and took a deep breath, starting over. “Have you ever considered…” Xie Lian shook his head and puffed out his cheeks as he let out a frustrated breath. “Have you…” The entire time, he still hadn’t managed to look him in the eye.
“Take your time, gege,” he said softly. His smile hadn’t faltered the entire time, and even if His Highness wasn’t looking at Hua Cheng, Hua Cheng was certainly looking at His Highness, committing every expression to memory.
“I know, I know,” he said, rubbing his forehead and finally, finally, he looked at Hua Cheng. “Last try.” Gege can try as many times as he wants. Hua Cheng bit back his reply; he didn’t want to scare him off now. “San Lang… have you ever… thought about…” he took a deep breath, and then forced out the last word: “Intimacy!”
Xie Lian’s ears burned, and he covered his eyes with both his hands, breaking the eye contact he’d so patiently forged.

A re-imagining of the book Carry On where the characters are more defined, the plot is more plot, and most importantly everyone is more queer. For the most part it is faithful to the original story, but there are some big changes, namely in characterization. I read this book several times when I was 13 and wanted to inspire the same feelings that it gave me while fitting my current standards.
This fic goes chapter by chapter through the original book, so hold onto your hats and buckle up because if I finish This in it's entirety it will be long!

Lan Zhan’s taste in beverages pretty much begins and ends with green tea, but today is a day for risks. For climbing out of his rut and trying new things. He decided that in the last two minutes. Perhaps Wei Ying's enthusiasm is contagious.
Or Wei Ying is a bartender who makes terrible drinks. Lan Zhan keeps going back to his bar anyway.
