Summary
Ivan's friend talked about her dad like he hung the stars in the sky. He was the funniest and sweetest guy you could ever know. And reliable too. I mean, he’d paid for her entire tuition without a single question. Which immediately made Ivan think he was great.
But to Ivan? His eyes were intense as they bore into him, fleeting looks from across the room that burned. He never said anything rude or ever roughly shook Ivan’s hand. And he never tried to size him up at all or question his ‘intentions’ with his daughter either.
But he hadn’t exactly… Talked to him. Not without her there. It’s like he didn’t know how. Ivan was positive that her father hated him.
And now Ivan would be watching after him while his friend was away. To make sure he was eating well, and to come with him to his Saturday dinners with his friends, like she always did.
Ivan's best friend asks him to keep an eye on her dad while she's away in an exchange program. He doesn't expect to fall for her father, who's almost two decades older than him.

Summary
A kid is clinging to a crouching man, ugly cries welling out of his throat, face scrunched like dread is too big for his body to hold. Till watches from afar, struck by his resemblance to himself and Ivan, the annoying boy whose features his mind sometimes forgets—the ache his body spreads in numbing curls along his limbs stunning him in place at the harrowing sight.
He hates that the aliens are cloning them like this, finds it sickening, as if ghosts are still truly haunting him, refusing to let go of the living. But there is comfort in seeing familiar features again—like proof that they existed at all, that he didn’t dream them into being.
Then the man brushes the kid’s head and straightens, turning slightly toward Till and saying something to a fellow rebel a few steps away, voice brisk, movements efficient-looking even from where Till stands.

Till had to be knocked out when the rebellion broke into Alien Stage right after round six concluded. Smoke filled the air and alarms blared from all corners of the stadium, but Till had been frozen in place, staring down at Ivan’s body. Blood as far as his eyes could see.
At Mizi’s insistence, Ivan was brought in as well.
And now here they were. Confused, probably mentally fucked up. But alive.
Or, Till figures out what a kiss is, and along the way, figures out that maybe what he feels for Ivan isn’t so complicated after all.
