Rin starts playing football because when Sae stands on the field, he shines so bright that Rin has watch how his big brother easily maneuvers around the other players and sends the ball flying in a beautiful, clean arc. Rin keeps playing football because he feels invincible when he plays with Sae, and if becoming the best in the world means that feeling lasts even longer, then he’ll train for hours and hours.
Rin stops playing football because–
Rin has no intention of ever thinking of football again after he quits the sport. This falls apart when he starts his job as Bachira Yuu's assistant.

When Rin started playing soccer, it was because he looked up to Sae. His brother was the best, a star player with a promising future, he was even cooler than any superhero on TV.
Rin didn't want to be like him, Rin wanted to be with him.
Rin didn't want to be the best. Soccer had simply been a reason to play alongside his older brother. Now Sae didn't need him anymore, and Rin felt so lost that he didn't know what to do now.

‘Get lost – NO!’ Rudo roared again, eyes flashing in a terrorised, overwrought outrage. Then he ripped the table lamp from his bedside locker and angled it threateningly above his head.
His voice hobbled over as he spoke, caught in a thick hook of swamped tears and mucus. ‘You’re NOT –’ he sniffed, hard; it sounded burnt-out and hurt. ‘–You’re not doing the breathing thing! That’s Regto’s thing!’
Enjin bowed his face and inhaled sharply.
Then he took a good, long look at him. ‘So that’s what this is about.’

Zanka’s blind. Has been for years. Most of the Cleaners are oblivious to it, but everyone who needs to know is already aware (and Enjin Doesn’t Need To Know, RIYO—)
So, yeah, baggage there. But with Assistaff’s help his blindness is basically paperwork (it is not) so there’s no reason to tell Enjin. (Or anyone else.) Besides, their fearless team leader is busy training the new kid! No reason to bother the guy with petty bullshit from years ago. He's got too many responsibilities as-is, and honestly, Enjin probably wouldn’t even care so there's no actual point in saying—
Then Rudo finds out.
Rudo, who can barely keep his emotions in check, let alone a fucking secret.

No one was quiet sure exactly how Eren Jeager had escaped from military custody, but the fact remained that he had.
The investigation was complicated by the fact that it had been several hours before anyone even realized Eren was gone. This was due to the fact that the boy in question had been replaced by a crude dummy made of straw, clay, and an old rug. In addition the guard on duty was unable to provide any new information, or in fact do anything beyond huddle in the corner and repeat "I saw nothing," over and over.
That was only the beginning of things. Who knew the three of them could be so good at staying one step ahead of everyone?

The lights that had bursted in the sky, ‘They’re fireworks!’ Enjin had supplied at his bewildered expression, were still going, their booming sound drowned out by the bustling crowd around them.
Rudo finds his eyes drifting back to them, watching as colors paint the air, fading and then immediately another takes its place. It’s beautiful, and he realizes he’s never seen anything like it.
These were bright, but in a way his mind couldn’t comprehend. It reminded him of something, of a time where things weren’t so complicated. Where his days consisted of fixing trash the others threw out, Regto’s teasing and Chiwa’s smile.

Rudo hasn’t had the chance to grieve, he just needs a little help.
