“Yes,” Bruce grunted, and it was only because Dick had known Bruce for so many years that he could tell just how pained the other man was. “He has agreed to work with us to be a double agent under one condition,” Uh oh.
“I’m guessing that condition involves me, typical,” Dick sighed.
“Yes,” Bruce said and then there was a moment of silence. “He wants you to sit in his lap for the briefing meeting,” Dick blinked in surprise. That was better than having to be his apprentice again for a week or something like that.

Things are really going pretty well.
Unfortunately, the balance doesn't last long, and old horrors from Dick's past end up dredged up alongside new ones.
This is a story about love and family, but equally so about trauma and healing from it. Please heed the warnings.

It's the early 1900s and the country of Gotham is recovering from a long war.
Trying to get a better life, Jason Todd has been moonlighting as an underground plane mechanic for illegal aeroplane racers, getting a cut of the whatever the pilot wins. After one particular competiton, he's accused of sabotage and, despite his protests, forced into deeper debt. At the end of his rope, he runs into Dick Grayson, ex-ace of the Gotham Air Force and supposed dead man. The war hero was supposed to have been shot down near the end of the war. Regardless, this pilot is the best chance Jason has to grab hold of that better life, and he's not going to let it go.- Language:
