That was how simpletons like his fellow Peak Lords rationalized it.
Shen Qingqiu thought that perhaps Zhao Qinglin was just a lay about. Kan Zhanbu was the tiniest of the twelve Peaks. The last that Shen Qingqiu had heard, the Peak only boasted one Elder, two Masters, and five Disciples- none of this counting Zhao Qinglin himself. Unless he spent all day gazing into the sun, he had more than enough time to pick up a brush and do his job.

It is extremely obvious that Qiu Jianluo has been replaced by a demon wearing his face, but not a single servant is willing to be the first to bring it up to their lord or their lady. Like, that guy sucked. He's far more tolerable this way.
Shen Jiu takes to stalking the demon in an attempt to get him to reveal his true colors, but he's just... some softhearted dork? The only thing unsettling about him is his obsession with monster trivia, but that, Shen Jiu kinda gets. Monsters DO seem interesting to learn about.

A big, fluffy raven colored Maine coon, with dirt covering its fur. But that wasn’t all. No, the Maine coon was curled protectively around what looked to be another Maine coon, though this one was smaller, maybe by about two inches, and was red in color with a white underbelly.

Takumi reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a long, thin piece of black cloth.
Eito looks completely unimpressed, his eyebrow raising being the only thing to suggest his interest.
“A blindfold? Really, Takumi?”
“I just thought, if your senses are all messed up, then maybe getting rid of one of them can make the rest more…” Accurate? Tolerable? Takumi trails off, unsure of how to end the sentence. “At least this way, we wouldn't have to look so scary to you anymore.”

Takumi and Eito get freaky with blindfolds for the sake of getting more comfortable with physical contact but they immediately lose the plot.

Eito laughed. “And you’re not exactly the biggest guy in the world. Come on, you can slot yourself in just fine.”
