He always basked in their attention. He was greedy for it. Mother would not have him but the Listener loved to hear him speak, and he loved to provide for them. "Wh—Wow, oynon, this is... I didn't expect this from you," Artemy stammered, his tone low and almost raspy.
"Yes, well. I've learned at least some things about the Steppe, haven't I?" Daniil preened, shooting him a modest grin.

I wholeheartedly regret reading this entire thing in one go, and at the same time I do not.
I relate to Damian.
I wish I could dream of a peaceful death. Long for it, even.
Typically I dislike Damian, because he's written as Batman but tiny and angrier. And I loathe Batman, and Bruce Wayne. He's abusive.
Damian, however... He's just a victim. Just a kid. It's literally not his fault. The comics never explore any of this shit, because if they did they'd have to unpack how Batman nowadays is far more toxic than the character was at inception, back when he just fought mobsters with guns, before the censorship.
In a way, I hate Alan Moore's grim, dramatic comics. There's a lot that I dislike about comics, but the Cerebus syndrome that spanned from Moore's works are just... Bleak. For the sake of it. Misery porn.
So reading a fic that actually engages and unpacks some of it was... Deeply emotional.
So, yeah, 9/10 would recommend. It's not a 10, because they didn't get to beat up Bruce, preferably literally and as a collective action.

Summary
One evening, Charlie makes them play a game: they have to answer five questions each about the person they are partnered with. The winning team gets to go to a restaurant the next day, while the losing team will have to do the dishes for the upcoming week.
Lucifer doesn't think it's fair that he has to be partnered up with Alastor, when the two other teams are couples. How are they supposed to compete? Not only do they hate each other, Lucifer also has a shitty memory about people!
He resigns himself to washing a lot of dishes in the near future, but they unexpectedly get more and more answers right. Will they, against all odds, not only not lose, but actually win? That would be preposterous, wouldn't it?
By the end of it, Lucifer learns that he knows a lot more about Alastor than he ever imagined, but that only makes him want to find out more.
