When he rounds the corner, Ivan finds Till sitting in bed, his bedside lamp being the source of light that he’d spotted earlier. He’s leaning against the headboard, eyebrows furrowed together in concentration, appearing to be painting something. Ivan’s suspicions are correct when he sees Till’s watercolour set lying next to him.
For a moment, he watches the other boy paint. He notices the way the moonlight from the big, round moon in the night sky trickles in through the open window along with the cold night breeze. The light reflects onto Till, making it seem as if he’s glowing. Till’s eyes are bright, full of passion, which they always are when he’s working on another one of his masterpieces.
He looks immaculate. Otherworldly, even.
