See, as it turns out, fighting a thousand players, then dueling Flame, then getting taken by Law, then having to escape Law, and running for days on end, kind of dwindled his already lacking PVP supplies. Which meant he would have to do one of a few very stupid things: Steal, steal, or steal.
Sounds pretty consistent! It’s not, though. He could raid a few old bases (almost everybody has moved into Law territory; he’d get caught again), beg Minute for some stuff (the other was probably still running short from the fight with Flame awhile back; he didn’t know where he was), or…and, okay—and don’t call him insane or anything. He could technically, probably, most definitely, steal from a Law outpost.
Don’t yell at Wemmbu yet, please.

He moved like a cat, once he started, and Branzy couldn’t have taken his eyes off it even if he’d been sober. The jester pulled himself fluidly onto the trapeze, swinging into a clean flip off, and catching himself on a pole, sliding halfway down it before gripping with the exposed part of his thighs, as he pushed the skirt up.

Summary
Long term deployment. They’d told him that much, and a lot of other stuff, but Branzy had done his own research. A mercenary partnership, ties to pretty much everything this side of the country, working for anyone with enough money and the balls to trade with them.
Scary stuff. Branzy was pretty sure this qualified as career-making. If he pulled it off. Life-ending, if he didn’t, and the look in his handler’s eyes had told him he probably had worse odds than a coin flip.
Branzy gets assigned to Clown and Ferre, a mercenary partnership living in the middle of nowhere, to work for them and gather information.

He couldn’t do it anymore. He just couldn’t. He wasn’t made for this, any of this, and he certainly wasn’t made for waiting for Clown to take the easy kill and get rid of him for good.
And yeah, fine, maybe the middle of the night in a rainstorm wasn’t the best time to slip out of a murder tent and run for the hills, but the rain covered his footprints, and the thunder had muffled his choked sob as Branzy cleared out what few things he dared to take.
Branzy runs away, towards the end of season three. and comes very swiftly to regret it.

Clown’s words were low, deadly, smooth and everything that made Branzy’s head spin. Which wasn’t a good thing. Not when he was barely clinging onto the edge of this ravine by the balls of his feet, not sure if he wanted to trust his pissed off partner not to drop him off the edge if he lost his grip.

“Sneaking out.” Clown’s voice had gone flat, with that edge of amusement that meant he was beyond furious. “Like I told you not to do. Because you get yourself killed.”
