This is a new one for me, folks. My first AU! (And yes, I'm aware I haven't finished Hue and Cry yet. I'm sorry. I promise I'm working on it.) I've had this idea circling around my brain for quite some time now and it's suddenly started yelling to be let out, so here we are.
Geralt, a ship's captain who commands a crew of monster-hunting sailors, rescues Jaskier from one of his rivals. Jaskier's only experience with Geralt's kind has left him with some pretty deep trauma, which he'll need to try to overcome--with Geralt's help, of course. Can they outwit and outmanuever the danger dogging their every move? And can Jaskier recover the man he used to be before his harrowing experience and learn to trust again?
