She did mourn that she might have tasted her last trout, though. And her last perch. And last minnow. And all the fish that the river had to offer. They were richer and fattier than ground-prey, and Leopardstar and Mistyfoot had said that that's why RiverClan cat fur was so sleek.
It was hard not to live with half her paws in the past when everything reminded her of it.
It wasn't so far away, she'd thought to herself. She could sneak off. All she had to do was follow the border back to Fourtrees, and then cross the bridge back to RiverClan.
But then Sasha would stir, and that sad and worried look Moth had grown used to would show up even while Sasha was dreaming, and Moth knew that she couldn't abandon her mother.
