Lucky the dog from the Matt Fraction Hawkeye series. He has light brown fur and is missing one eye. He is looking up and to the side while holding a slice of super cheesy pizza.

A perfect Disco Elysium series. Major expansion of world building while criticizing the inherent structures implied. Major exploration of who Kim Kitsuragi is in a way that still maintains his stiff upper lip and many nuances. Any additions just depend those elements already present in the game.

The mysteries are fantastically written and explored thoroughly. The level of care in this series is unparalleled. Essential reading for any Disco Elysium fan tbh

In early 1961 Warsaw, a young schoolteacher collapses during a lesson. Seems like textbook TB or syphillis. Not at all the sort of case dr n. med. Grzegorz Haus would usually look at twice, if not for the way dr Wilski all but begged him to do it, without wanting to say why.

This is a fantastic AU! An interesting take on the show that heightens the stakes and engages with the Sherlock Concept more fully. Also, I'm a sucker for any House fic that actually engages with the Judaism of some of the principle cast members.

    Summary

Everyone loves being appreciated, but that is not why Wilson never says no to whatever request is asked of him.
He does it because he likes needy people, or something. He does it because he is genuinely a good person, or because he likes staying all night to monitor a patient, or because it's the right thing to do...or because it just doesn't matter if he's exhausted the next day. He's just Wilson. So it's okay.
Caring is Wilson's job, his way of earning attention or affection. He dedicates himself to caring for others and they make him feel like he deserves to exist, at least for a little while. It's been like that since he was a kid, when his parents told him it was his responsibility, his "chore," to take care of Danny. From then on, he was the carer, not the cared for.
Great. You understand. Everything is normal. Wilson is just doing what he always does. It doesn't matter if he's tired, or breaking. His family was normal. This case is normal. He doesn't have problems. There is no story here. He's....he's fine.

Worse, this is turning into C Wing team building.

It's fine, absolutely fine. Absolutely not your worst nightmare come true.

    Bookmarker's Notes

I hold such deep love for this fic. An excellent navigation of what it means to hide and limit yourself and the impact it has. There is immense care in how Kim is portrayed. Kim is never cruel or unfair in regards to Precinct 41, yet his base assumptions are no longer accurate. He is still hiding for very legitimate reasons (particularly since this is a cop space), but he is learning to find and build a space for himself with those that show good will. He is learning to be happy instead of just surviving.

I also love the way Harry and Kim have very different conversations with each other at the same time. The way they are both very different people navigating the world is clear and that disconnect involves elements that feels like stretching a stiff and underused limb. They are not the same, but they are open and willing to always try with each other. Just a lovely story.
