When Lightning breaks down, when it all comes out, he’s with Sally, and maybe it isn’t a good thing to pour these kind of feelings out into the lap of the woman you used to date, but he can’t talk to Mater about it, even if the guy is his best friend. It’s complicated in a way that would distress him. He sees Doc as good, and sees Lightning as good, and in his world, there’d be no obstacle to stop two good people getting together. No way two good people could tear each other apart.
