He knows he must ignore the hunger for love that keeps growing inside him or he'll risk everything; and ignore it is exactly what he intends to keep doing.
When Robert is sent back to his childhood village with the intention of condemning another unsuspecting soul, will either of them be able to do what they know they must to survive?

Notes:
This fic is both a post-hoc analysis of Armand's relationship with Marius and an attempt to connect Armand's backstory from The Vampire Armand with the show universe. Expect show canon with a heavy sprinkling of adapted book canon, as well as a good scoop of making shit up (scaffolded, of course, by my best attempts at historical research). Case in point: this is a post-S2 AU where Armand and Daniel are already together by the start of this story.A note before we get started: this fic includes references and memories of child sexual abuse and physical abuse. None of it is extremely graphic, but it's there. Expect a level of detail similar to what appears in The Vampire Armand. Furthermore, I realize that Marius is a controversial character. My approach is pretty simple. I'm not here to demonize Marius, but I'm not cutting him any slack. At the end of the day, this is an Armand-centric story, and it's going to center on Armand's complicated feelings about this central figure in his life.
