“Trahearne?” Rhydenach’s voice sliced through the haziness of his mind as he hoisted him up. He was laid across the kneeling warrior’s lap, one arm firmly snaked around his back, a warm hand clutching his waist at the juncture where his armour didn’t quite join and his skin was exposed.
Commander Rhydenach and Marshal Trahearne find themselves alone together in Orr, and get slightly in over their heads. When the dust clears, Rhydenach cannot leave it any longer and has to let his beloved how he truly feels.

Trahearne wakes up in pain.
It’s not exactly ideal. There’s a dull ache permeating his limbs and an incessant pounding in his head. He tries to sit up and just ends up prompting another wave of agony for his troubles, his entire left side on fire.
But considering that he hadn’t expected to wake at all- it’s not too bad, honestly. It can be said that he needs better standards, but when it comes to either dying or being in pain but alive, he knows which is the lesser evil.

He's been putting off clearing the air between them for a while now, so that's probably on him. At least now they have a chance to talk.
... And maybe they can work out an alternative method for Flambae to vent his anger toward Mecha Man.

“I do. This,” He gestures vaguely at himself, “is entirely different.”
“How?” Flambae seems almost incredulous that Robert could possibly be hurt outside of his overconfidence in the gym.
“It’s always there, it just flares up every few days. I can manage it.”
Flambae puts his food down, the lightest trail of steam rising from it. “So, chronic.”
“Sure.” Robert deadpans. “Considering the shitshow that is my life, I wouldn’t put it past me.”
“And, what, you’re doing nothing about it?” Flambae presses with a glare, and Robert raises an eyebrow at his tone. Is that. . concern? Huh.

Robert's chronic pain is flaring up more often as the weather starts getting cooler. While juggling weeks mixed with dispatching and field work, now that he's Mecha Man again, it's proving to be pretty difficult to ignore.
However, a certain flaming asshole starts taking notice. His favors start to make Robert realize something and also force the two of them to confront the history that haunts them both before whatever this is starts to become an option.

“You jealous or something? Look, if you wanted to grab dinner all you had to do was ask,” Robert shoots back, dry as always.
“Yeah… hah. You're not my type.” Flambae sounds weirdly uncomfortable, almost embarrassed, and Robert’s eyebrows lift slightly. He’s never heard the man hesitate in his life.
“Girl, that’s the biggest lie I’ve heard!” Prism laughs before he can even respond. “You’re actually saying you’re not into a sad little twink like him?”

One of the main characters - the only surviving witness to a murder - has just woken from a coma. Not only is she entirely cognizant, but the first thing that the subtitles say she asks for is a lawyer.
“What are you fucking giggling about?”
The other person that’s been paying attention is Flambae. He’s right next to Robert on the couch, his arm slung over the top behind his head. One foot is propped up on the other knee, also pointing towards Robert, which has him caged in the corner by the arm rest. It’s probably some fucked-up power move. Robert has been ignoring it just to spite him.
“It’s just not how comas work,” Robert shrugs.
“Right, and you know because you’re a fucking doctor,” Flambae quips back.
“I know because I was in one, asshole.”

During a quiet night in, Robert realizes that his coma and injuries aren't common knowledge among Z-Team.
Most of them take the information in stride with jokes aplenty.
