A solid plan starts forming in Lullah’s little head. “Why don’t you come with us to the picnic?” a bright smile is plastered over her face as she signs. She can’t say she’s doing this purely for altruistic reasons. More than anything, she wants her papa to be happy, of course! But she also can’t wait to gossip with the other kids when she next sees them. Everyone is already so invested in their slow burn frenemies to lovers romance that she can’t pass up on the opportunity for deepening the plot.
And Wilbur smiles a lot when he’s with Quackity. It’s a different kind of smile than the one he gives Tallulah. The smiles he gives her are warm and bright, like the sun. But the smiles he gives to him are as if Quackity is the sun.

Drug overdoses have decreased by twenty two percent in adults and seventy nine percent in minors. Homeless minors are ninety two percent less likely to—”
“Kid,” Jason interrupted. “Enough statistics. What the hell is this about?”
Robin slowly lowered the tablet with his powerpoint presentation and looked up at Red Hood.
“You care about Gotham,” Robin summarised. “Gotham needs Batman. Batman is missing and so is Nightwing. We need you to fill in for Batman.”
“You want me to cover Batman’s patrols?” Jason clarified.
“No,” Robin said. “I want you to be Batman.”
Jason bluescreened.
(Or: Batman and Nightwing mysteriously disappear before Red Hood has even started antagonising them, Robin is desperate, Gotham needs Batman, and Red Hood is Batman-Shaped.)

But there were still lines Roy wouldn’t cross. Even if Jason was old enough, even if he was no longer gunning for anyone who truly didn’t deserve it. Bad enough that he’d dated Dick’s ex for so long. He had been Dick’s friend first, and you didn’t go after your friend’s younger siblings. You just didn’t. Besides, Jason wasn’t interested, so the whole point was moot.
Until that smile, and Jason could be an asshole, but he didn’t hand out his cruelty where it wasn’t earned. He wouldn’t tease just because he knew how Roy felt. If he was pushing Roy’s buttons, it was because he wanted Roy to push back.
