Ford could live with that. It was the earnest bitching that meant Stan really didn’t want to go. “They’re just fae,” he said with a tone of voice that indicated his complete and utter lack of awe for the faery courts. “It’s not like they’ve got some great wisdom to bestow. Little bastards just steal groceries and try to hex your goat.”

All he wants is to ask for forgiveness and to know that is isn't hated by the only person who ever loved him. But when he gets to Gravity Falls, he is hit with disappointment. Ford made him come all this way just to tell him to get out of his life?

Ford is not particularly looking forward to seeing his brother - the man who ruined his only chance of escaping the poverty cycle, but he's desperate. Tormented by Bill Cipher, he has barely slept in weeks and feels himself losing touch with reality, becoming more and more irritable and short-tempered.
All he needs is for Stan to take the journal and leave, but the idiot refuses. As days pass & tensions rise, Ford learns a terrible lesson. Sometimes you forget to appreciate the people who love you the most - and worse - by the time you realise, it's too late.
The only question left is whether Ford will learn his lesson in time.

Summary
Ford has been trying to convince Stan to let him into his mind ever since they made up. He just wants to make sure there isn't some kind of huge hole in his head from the memory gun or maybe Bill hiding in the cracks left behind.
He doesn't want to poke through his mind for things that happened while they were apart! Ford would never do that... at least he would never tell Stan if he did.
But instead of a free walk into his brother's mind, he is forced to watch memories click themselves into place without help. He is forced to watch their childhood from Stan's perspective, and it does not match what he remembers.

Years ago, Stan Pines died under strange circumstances. His body was found, funerals happened, Pa was too ashamed to show up, Shermie too busy, Ma went... so did Ford...
And Ford learned a lot while at the funerals, more than he would have liked to. Like the fact his brother lived out of his car, of all places... At least, the car gave him a way to summon his brother's spirit, to talk one last time! Or it should have. It never worked... Ford kept the car anyways, for old times' sake.
In other news, a little over 30 years later, 13 year old Mabel Pines came back to Gravity Falls a year after her brother stayed back there for an "apprenticeship" with their great uncle Ford or whatever... Meaning she was alone to face their parents' divorce. And even now, her brother ignored her for his "anomalies". No big deal. None at all... Not at all the reason why she tried to leave the home at 1 am, only to be met with a homeless-looking ghost with no memories who decided to haunt her.
At least the nameless ghost is a good friend to prank Gravity Falls with!

"Children, what are you doing on the ground?"
The twins scream and jump to their feet. Grunkle Ford is standing right behind them. Dipper will never understand how such a tall man can sneak up on you like that. Ford has some sticks and leaves in his hair and his hands clasped behind his back. His skin is still faintly tanned from his months on the Stan' o War II which is a good look on him. He actually looks younger than he did three years ago. There is a twinkle in his eyes that has been there ever since Mabel and Dipper fell out of the bus and right into his and Grunkle Stan’s arms.
"Are you two being mischievous already?" he asks with a laugh and leans over so he can see what they have been staring at. "The summer has barely starte-" He breaks off and just stares. "Oh my."
"It's my fault but it was an accident!" Dipper blurts.
"Well, my boy. If you had done this on purpose we would have even bigger problems."

Summary
Arrested for petty crime, Stan expects to go on trial and end up in prison. It wouldn’t be the first time. He knows how it goes.
What he does not expect is for people to start treating him weirdly after one of his fuzzy-brain episodes. He does not expect to be acquitted on account of being deemed mentally incapable. He does not expect the court to rule he be placed under adult guardianship.
And he definitely does not expect when it’s his estranged twin brother who shows up as his new guardian.

Shermie didn’t cry. He steadied his voice to hide the shake in it and said “Um, Ma’s ok. She gave me your number.”
“Oh.” The voice paused. “What’s- uh, what’s up?”
“Um.” Shermie gulped. “I need- some help.”
“What is it?”
“Pa.” He took a deep breath. “Pa kicked me out.”
The voice didn’t speak for a minute. When it did again, it shouted “What the fuck?”

Thistle Downe wasn't about to let Stanley get away with crashing his van. No, he had to get his revenge and it just so happened that his girlfriend Carla had unwittingly given him the perfect idea. After finding her secret notebook didn't have secrets but fan fiction of all things he had the idea to curse Stanley.
Now Stanley is gone, snatched from the streets of Jersey and sold to the most famous band in all the world. And Carla isn't about to accept that her ex boyfriend is living out her fantasies so she ropes Stan's twin brother into her mission to retrieve Stan.
