Summary
Travis Phelps was perfectly content to spend the rest of his days taking Kenneth's abuse just to spare his sisters. When he got involved with Sal Fisher, he was led several times to the conclusion that his standard of living was unacceptable.
The escape plan was foolproof. A bit too foolproof, because Travis gets pushed a bit too far a bit too harshly by both Kenneth and Sal and he lives the next 6 years of his life completely alone.
He is completely fine like this, but little reminders of Sal take him down bit by bit.
And then Sal Fisher, ex boyfriend, known murderer, and escaped convict, shows up at his fucking door.

Summary
Sal Fisher is totally, 100%, utterly fine and fixed.
Except for, recently, a few small habits - but it's nothing compared to when it was worse, so what's really the harm done?
None, as long as nobody finds out. Especially not Travis.(Travis finds out)

Travis learns that Sal always loved grapefruit as a kid.
What he doesn't know, is that you can’t have grapefruit on depression medication. -

Summary
Travis liked knowing what he did wrong, when he did it, and knowing how to fix it.
Sal is internal and never tells Travis at all if he does something wrong.
It drives him crazy.

*hit me baby one more time*
(not a songfic, but this is exactly what the fic is honestly) -

Summary
Why the fuck can't any of them just leave Travis alone?
--
Travis hates the idea of people knowing him, knowing about his existence. Sal Fisher (and his friends, by proxy) make it a point to know about him and his existence, usually for the worst.
Usually.
