Summary
The night was still, except for the faint hiss of Obanai’s snake shifting along his shoulders. Shinobu could hear it even over the chorus of insects that always seemed to sing louder in her presence, as though mocking the way she bore their name. She sat a little distance away from him on the engawa, legs tucked neatly beneath her, the wooden planks warm from the day’s sun but cooling quickly in the night air.
Neither of them spoke at first. They rarely needed to. It was strange, she thought, how silence with most people felt suffocating, but with him it was.. honest. Heavy, yes, but unforced.

Summary
Obanai paused near the edge of the dock, fishing rod balanced in his hand, and took it all in.
He hadn’t been fishing in a long time. Long enough that the place felt both familiar and distant, like something he remembered more with his body than his mind. The way the quiet pressed in. The way the world seemed to narrow to water and sky and whatever waited beneath the surface.
He adjusted his grip, fingers tightening and loosening as if testing himself.
“Didn’t think you’d get here before me.”
Sanemi’s voice cut through the stillness, rough but low, like he was careful not to disturb it too much.

The thought surfaced again, intrusive and uninvited, appearing every time he ended up like this next to Sanemi, the words sticking stubbornly to the inside of his skull. "I'll be your best kept secret and your biggest mistake." A bitter sort of poetry. It echoed louder in the silence, bouncing off the walls of his mind until it was the only thing he could hear.

This was something that she had decided to herself months ago, but after all, Lily is a weak, weak, woman.

Deciding when to tell Pyro about the corruption back home was the hardest thing Scott's had to do to date. When opportunity strikes after Graecie leaves them to go to their dorm, Scott begins to talk. He knows if he doesn't say now, he never will for fear of losing this good thing they have now. "You've not once asked about home."

Pyro, on the other hand, ran hot. He always had, and especially now with his powers awakened, it seemed that everything he touched either melted away from him or burned to ashes under his ministrations.An argument between Scott and Pyro gets out of hand, and Pyro is pushed to reconsider some things he thought he knew.
