Summary
The Wheeler basement has seen demogorgons, shadow monsters, and the literal apocalypse. But it has never seen Beverly Marsh with four six-packs of Miller High Life and a bottle of peach schnapps.
When the Party and the Losers Club decide to play Sardines, Will Byers is banned from hiding (for obvious, interdimensional reasons). Richie Tozier takes the fall instead. He finds a linen closet. Will finds Richie. And suddenly, the game becomes a lot less about hiding and a lot more about a collision of teeth, glasses, and the realization that Mike Wheeler's best friend might actually like the loudest kid from Derry.
Or: The one where Will and Richie hides in a closet and decided to make out.

"I haven't told any of you this because I don't want you to see me differently," Will started. His voice was soft, melodic, and Richie felt like he was being hugged by a cloud. "But the truth is... I am different."
Will took a shaky breath. This was it. The big reveal. The moment the music swells.
"I just… I don't like girls."
The silence that followed was heavy. It was the kind of silence that usually preceded a jump-scare. Mike looked like he had been hit with a brick. El looked confused. Dustin looked like he was doing math in his head.
Richie Tozier, however, did not stay silent.
He let out a sound that was somewhere between a pterodactyl scream and a sob of pure relief. He threw his hands into the air, his Hawaiian shirt fluttering.
"I KNEW IT!" Richie screamed, his voice echoing off the concrete walls.
OR Richie Tozier has spent his quarantine pining for Will Byers. When Will finally delivers his dramatic coming-out speech at WSQK headquarters, Richie took his chance.

"Dustin," Robin hissed, her shoulder tensing against Will's. "Maybe not the time for the 'plenty of fish' speech?"
"No, I’m just saying!" Dustin protested, "We’re not weirded out or anything. We want him to know that we’re okay with it. That we’re still friends. You’re our Cleric, Will. We need our Cleric."
"Yeah," Lucas added, stepping closer, "We’re not mad about what we saw, Will. Honestly. We just want you to be okay."
"A crush," Will repeated, the words tasting like copper.
OR Will Byers was their Cleric, their tool. But when his family is lost and his heart is treated as an inconvenience, he stops healing. He merges the worlds to ensure the silence lasts forever.
OR A Dark Will AU where he chose to let the world burn instead of being sidelined again.

“Uh-huh,” Mike says faintly, and he yelps when they narrowly avoid the edge of a shining skyscraper, and his hands clutch onto Spiderman instinctively. “Oh – my fucking God, that –”
Spiderman’s fingers press a little firmly into Mike’s shirt. "Just – hang on!"
"What do you mean just hang – was that a pun," Mike sputters, clutching onto Spiderman for dear life as they swing through the city, and he can hear the superhero laugh through the racing wind in his ears, the rumble of it under Mike’s arm wrapped around his middle.
In a city of superheroes, Mike keeps running into Spiderman, much to his dismay.

Mike could feel Max's disbelief through the cellphone. "That's really not—" and she paused, sighing loudly. Mike could genuinely hear her facepalm. "Jesus Christ, Mike. Do you want to be an ally or not?"
After freaking out on Will for kissing a guy, Mike turns to Max for help. Max helps him out, in her own meddling way.

Will’s still looking straight up at the sky. The length of his neck is very, very flushed. Mike can feel his entire face going redder than Vader’s lightsaber. He clenches his hands into tiny little fists, and says, around a groan: “I’m not Han Solo, guys.”
In which Lucas has a thing for Bowie, Will has a thing for Han Solo, Mike has a thing for Will, and El should never be allowed to watch Star Wars again.
