there are no manuals on breathing in the house of daena, weirdly enough. which means there probably aren’t any in all of tevyat, and logically, that makes sense; even a toddler can figure this stuff out without breaking a sweat. scara can feel the frustration building up, electricity buzzing in his cheeks until he is on the verge of overheating. so he takes a walk around the divine tree, and comes back with a new strategy in mind.
[...] awkwardly climbing down the levels of study, he eventually finds himself face-to-face with a high school level textbook on biology. flipping through the pages, there’s a childlike rush of excitement as he realizes that this is all starting to make a little more sense. he wonders if this is how his classmates feel in lectures, if this is the main draw of academia and research. it’s all starting to make more sense.

Instead, Dabi’s warm breath ruffles a few strands of Hawks’ messy hair (and if that doesn’t kick Hawks’ poor heart into a gear that can not be healthy) when he murmurs, all too earnest and all too quiet, “No, birdie. Not like this.”
