Fiona Shepard woke up on a Cerberus operating table, apparently after being dead for two years. She wants nothing more than to see a familiar face, someone who will have her back as she works with her former enemies and tries to save the galaxy. Again.
And then after one trip to Omega, she's reunited with her best friend in the galaxy.
But he looks at her differently, now - and she can't seem to shake this new feeling. Especially once she realizes it's not really a new feeling.

Meanwhile, Shepard has been sending messages to her crew, letting them know she was alive, but that she can't come back. Well, no one's going to just accept that, least of all Garrus. If she can't come home on her own, then the crew of the Normandy, past and present, are going to her! There's just one little problem: the New Council does not want them to succeed.

A post-synthesis dark-fic with a twist. Smutty angst-with-a-happy-ending.
Since the end of the war, Garrus and Liara had spent most of their time hunting down evil clones of Shepard. It seems Cerberus had funded the Lazarus project by selling off Shepard's DNA to the highest bidders. Several clones had been made at many of their facilities, and not all had been accounted for. Each one more maligned and unstable than the last. Now Garrus has a new personal crusade, eliminating every single one.

Cerberus has spent billions of credits trying to bring Commander Shepard back from the dead, and despite the odds, it seems to be working. Then a saboteur makes his move and Shepard's resurrection takes a horrific turn, leaving the Alliance, her old team, and Cerberus scrambling to control the situation...all while the Collectors begin their harvest of humanity.
An AU "What If?" story where the Shepard that wakes up on Lazarus Station isn't the same person that died over Alchera. Things fly off the rails almost immediately, plans and contingencies are dead on arrival, and her former friends--along with the people she would have eventually called her allies--struggle to stay afloat.
After all, how are you supposed to face your demons when the Paragon of Humanity has become one herself?
