Tim carved himself a place with the Wayne's. He bled for a chance to don a domino mask. He endured condescension, attempts on his life that were met with no reprimand, he even endured Robin - the one thing he had left - being taken and given to Damian. He went on a trip around the goddamn world just to find Bruce after he was lost in the timestream. He cried, fought, bled, underwent medical malpractice, and still found his adopted father. All to be met with no apologies for his eldest brother's threats of Arkahm, and a request for his emancipation so Bruce wouldn't have to run Wayne Enterprises.
Tim Drake-Wayne dropped the hypenation.
He was never a Wayne, and he finally realized it.

Wait. Pause. Back up. Tim has just been sold to the Waynes.
He feels like fanfiction should have prepared him more for this. However, standing on the driveway and staring up at Wayne Manor, Tim feels like a stereotypical school kid about to take a math test they didn’t study for.
OR:
Tim expects to console Bruce Wayne in his grief, and maybe even cheer him up after the loss of his son. He does NOT expect Jason Todd to open the door and offer him a tour. -

Especially not when the bats get involved with their trashy next door neighbor whose behavior seems more and more contradictory.
Tim had saved them all more times than he could count, maybe this time they could return the favor.

Summary
Tim Drake was always the outsider-the replacement, placeholder for something better. The kid who showed up uninvited, who begged for scraps of attention and never got more than the bare minimum.
He'd always known that Bruce didn't love him the way he loved the others. Bruce barely looked at him unless he had to. But when the Team is captured, Bruce's decision to sacrifice him finally confirms what Tim always feared.
He really was expendable.
