The Merge, but totally off-kilter. Lloyd wakes up in the monastery, confused, dazed, and definitely with a concussion.

Lloyd curled up into himself, shivering from the temperature and the cold metal against his skin. At this rate, he would either starve to death, die of dehydration, or freeze. He wondered which one was less painful.
He was obviously in no shape to try and escape. He had attempted to before, but to no avail. All the hope left in him was channeled into one thought: where were the other ninja?

If you were any less terrified, you'd have scoffed, and thanked him for stating the obvious. Instead, your only response is another wince away from him, your lip trembling. Your heart is beating so hard in your ears you can barely even make out his words, but you persist anyways.
“Don't be afraid to cry,” He coos, but you can tell he's just making fun of you. He takes a breath from a mouth he doesn't have, and leans in close, getting right up in your personal space. “You have greater things to be afraid of.”

This was the only place the two of you could safely meet, far enough from your home to dissuade anyone from following you but not close enough to the dark thicket of the woods that you were at risk of being caught as prey by a less friendly creature. When your doubts take hold of you, you make the choice to leave the shack, possibly to never return to it again. But as soon as the night air is so close to greeting your face, the presence you longed for after all this time makes itself known.
