The anger in his voice finally did it for Shane. The emotions bubbled over.
"I get it okay! Yes, I lied! Fuck. But it wasn't just my secret to keep. Don't you get that?"
A few of the guys scoffed. Drapeau crossed his arms, as if to say 'so what?'.
"Oh, fuck this! It wasn't only my secret! It was his too. What was I supposed to do, tell you anyway?"
"No. It's clear you'd choose him over us." J.J said, his lips pressed into a thin line.
Shane scoffed incredulously. "Of course I would! Wouldn't you all choose your wives over the team? Your families? Fuck."
No one said anything. Glancing around the room, they all seemed in shock. Maybe it was that he'd openly admitted to choosing Ilya over the team. Or maybe it was that he'd referred to Ilya as his family.
(post-hayden/video-gate the montreal voyagers reacted badly. shane gives them a little more of his mind this time)

“Why is he calling you Ilya?” Pike asked.
"Why is he asking you to stay?” Hollander’s mom followed.
Ilya shrugged. “How would I know?”
Hollander lifted his arm out, as if reaching for Ilya. “Because I want him to stay.” It was said in a tone that seemed to say, 'obviously'.
“Shane,” Hollander’s dad started. “Um- what’s going on? I thought we hated Rozanov.” He seemed to realise what he’d said and glanced at Ilya. “Sorry.”
“Is fine.”
"No, I don't hate him. I love him."
Cliff's jaw was firmly hanging open, and he didn't think it was going to move anytime today. He felt as if he'd been punched in the stomach, all the air ripped away from his lungs.
"Am I dreaming?" Cliff muttered to himself.
Pike let out a strained laugh. "I think someone spiked my coffee this morning."

After a long, tense moment, he let out a soft huff, glanced away again, and gave a single nod.Vox lifted his other hand slowly, making sure he was being as obvious as he could be, and moved it in until he was brushing his fingers against the patch of blood- feather-light, but even with that he could tell it was still wet.
“Is there anything I can do?" He asked softly, squeezing his clasped hand again. “Will you let me help you?”---
