Clark has made peace with it but Bruce has a plan for his friend's heat to be a little less debilitating this time around.

It chills him to the bone and makes his heart clench with an emotion he does not want to name. He fights with a renewed vigor, if only to make time.
He’s starting to lose it, lose time, lose himself to the repetition of slashing and slicing and stabbing.

The people of Earth are simple and confused.
Rule without mercy.The words echoed despite having nothing to bounce off of but the tightening walls of shock and disbelief that choked Superman as the message played on every phone and billboard within the gathering yet distant crowd. They kept a distance like a wild animal that was only caged by a flimsy rope it could chew through any moment.
Gotham was flooded. Riddler was contained and under constant surveillance, but that didn't stop the consequences of his actions. Extremists, destroyed neighborhoods, violent criminals. Batman had his claws dug into falling sand through an hourglass. It was only a matter of time before he fell, too.
The broadcast that had betrayed the world, the man that had betrayed him, only widened the abysmal hole for him drown in, choked by doubts and regret and sand.Putting personal feelings aside, Batman held to that vow that held his heart the way the cowl held his pride: Protect.

“Good morning,” said the man from the speaker. “Can I speak with Jayci Talis?”
“Jayce speaking,” he corrected, annoyed. The man had a thick accent, a kind of voice trained to be smooth, a customer service voice.
He managed to close his door and went down the stairs, his hands full of his last packed box, ready to move out.
“Oh, hi. Hello. I’m sorry to bother you so early, it was very... hard to find your contact.”
He kept the phone on his shoulder as he got closer to his car, struggling to find the keys.
“Sorry, this is not a good time, who is it?” Jayce pressed, wanting to get to the point.
“Uh... I’m the...” he heard a sigh from the other side, he couldn’t deal with this, not at this time. He was about to hang out when the voice continued. “I’m the organ recipient. Of your friend.” A pause. “It’s Viktor.”
He heard as his box of shit hit the ground, unable to do anything about it.

In which Jayce can't properly deal with death itself, and Viktor has to get used to his new heart and everything that comes with it.

Bruce shook himself off like a dog, earning a groan and playful kick from Clark who still hadn't moved from lying on the bank of the river. The cowboy grinned.
"Don't start a fight you can't win, Clark," The older teased, pulling his jeans on.
"Just get yourself decent and to the barn, Cowboy," Clark groaned out, stretching his arms above his head.
Bruce didn't really know what came over him, as he jumped onto Clark straddling him and tickling him whilst his arms were up in their stretch.
Clark shrieked and swore, bucking like a bull to get Bruce off of him. Clark, seeing his opportunity with Bruce being shirtless, managed to snake his arm around to pinch Bruce's pectoral muscles, finally rolling away when the cowboy jumped in surprise.
"You are screwed now--" Clark began as he scrambled to his feet.
Bruce didn't share this same excitement, staring up at Clark's face with disbelief.
"--Clark who and what the fuck happened to you?"
