Only a mage driven to insanity or desperation burned their own tissues for seidr.
Loki had far too much experience with both and even he wasn't fool enough.
But the Norns had never had mercy for the likes of Loki...Stripped of the body he'd always known, Loki is bound in his true form, that of a frost giant runt barely on the cusp of adolescence. Yet no one knows what lies under the false image of the disgraced second Prince of Asgard, certainly not Thor. Odin knows full well that Loki would not survive the truth of his lineage being uncovered, and he still had use of his stolen relic.
However – weak from months in Asgard's dungeon after barely recovering from Svartalfheim and Thanos' ministrations – Loki is stolen from Asgard's dungeons by Thor. As the only known wielder of two Infinity Stones, the Avengers hope to use Loki to uncover the reason behind their appearance on Earth. Especially in light of the Mind Stone taken form as their newest ally: the Vision.
But they are not the only ones who have use of a bound child mage.

Despite Sam giving his all in helping the Autobots, he dies in the battle of Egypt, and is repaid by the Primes ripping him away from his life on Earth. Instead, they send him to Cybertron just before the war breaks out with the request that he stop the war before it's too late. What is he supposed to do about that, you ask? Great Question, because he has no clue either.
You know the drill. Sam is converted into a sparkling and sent to Cybertron. He proceeds to make everyone's lives as hard as possible on purpose.

“I don’t think I really knew what I was doing.” Peter’s voice is uncharacteristically tired, though unsurprisingly. “Haven’t, not since the dust.”
“The dust?” His mentor, father figure, idol, hero, questions. Tony’s voice is almost flat, but if Peter squints he can convince himself of a mirage of kindness.
A small beat, just for him to breathe the not-air.
“Yeah, the dust. Before I came here, y’know.” He scoffs eventually, bringing his knees up to curl around them. “Never mind. You’re not real.”
When Peter looks to his side, Tony smiles sadly. He hates that.
He convinces his brain it’s Jason. He hates that more, because his body betrays him, relaxing.
“I know, kid.”
He hates that most.

"You're a mess," Skywarp said softly, pressing his helm against Starscream's. "You got fluids everywhere. You’re leaking."
"Sorry," Starscream whispered. It was so faint Skywarp almost missed it. "Tired."

Starscream is a regular guest in Megatron's berth. His trine, and every Decepticon, knows this. It's a power play, they tell themselves. He wants it.
Every time Starscream comes back reeking of Megatron, Thundercracker and Skywarp are there to tend to him, increasingly convinced this isn't a risk worth taking.
The day he doesn't make it back, though, is the day his trine realises they're in more danger than they could have possibly anticipated.

They land on Jazz.
Jazz keeps his posture rigid, blank, obedient. He’s been under Optimus Prime’s gaze, under Prowl's, under far more respectable mechs than Starscream; he knows how to hold steady under scrutiny.
Starscream’s stare is… Different.
Calculating. Predatory. Uncomfortably sharp, like a dagger pressed under his chin.
“You.” Starscream says, pointing with the mug. “New.”
Jazz snaps a salute a half-klik faster than regulation.
“Yes, sir. Adagio, sir.”
“I didn’t ask.” Starscream sneers.

And Tim has so much he wants to change, so much he wants. He wants to feel important to Bruce. He wants to be Dick's favorite. He wants Jason (his childhood hero) to think he's cool. He wants Damian to need him. And really, is it manipulation if his family benefits from it?
Or: He was halfway through the second trash can, when a startled “Good lord” caught him off guard. Tim glanced up, the rhythmic sucking of his pacifier coming to a still at the sight of a black Rolls Royce idling at the side road that lead to Wayne Manor. Alfred was staring at him from the over the car top, aghast. “Master Bruce, it’s not a raccoon.”
From the back seat, Bruce Wayne stared at him. Tim stared back.

Fox was a brother, to his batchers scattered across the galaxy, and to his men on Coruscant. He was a protector, forced to keep his brothers safe from the senators they were meant to serve. Fox was a hardass, allegedly. He was a pencil pusher, a killer, a punching bag and a play thing. In the end, however, Fox was only one thing. He’d been this when he was hardly a cadet, let alone a soldier, and he would be it until the day he died.
