Summary
Caitlyn Kiramman was a lot of things. She was the Councillor’s daughter, born into a life of privilege and luxury. She was an A star student, leaving education with a degree and immediately starting her career as a detective. She was head of detective’s, the person that her co-workers looked up to. And most importantly she was Vi’s girlfriend, and had been for several years. They’d met in high school and were practically high school sweethearts. Caitlyn knew everything about Vi, and Vi knew almost everything about Caitlyn.
Caitlyn was a neutral. Or that’s what she told everyone anyway.

She said it so strongly she almost believed it herself. Lately, everything felt like too much. She was constantly five seconds away from bashing her head out because the lights were too bright and the constant chatter which felt like daggers every time she stepped out of her office. Vi holds the book up, “Since you don’t like this one, you, uh, got any recommendations for books you like more?”
Her seat neighbor’s smile returns then, her eyes brightening. “Yes, I, uh,” she pauses and bites her lip, her smile still breaking through as her blush deepens. She looks down at the space between their seats as she begins to speak, “I’ll give them to you in exchange for your number.”
The eye contact returns then and Vi feels her face grow red and hot again, it’s probably getting close to the shade of her own hair, but she’s smiling nonetheless. “You got anything to write on?”

Caitlyn and Vi are recent college grads living in New York City in the late nineties, they meet by chance and quickly become enamored with each other. But as their relationship develops, cracks begin to show: neither of them are out to their families and they're both struggling with their identities and their hope that they will get the future that they always dreamed of. When these cracks begin to force them apart, they must face the reality that they may never get everything they wanted. And the question of whether their love is worth the sacrifice.

“First time here?” the pink haired woman asks, her tone disarmingly friendly.
Caitlyn nods stiffly, her throat too tight to manage words.
“Do you smoke?” the stranger then asks.
“No, I don’t,” she replies, her words clipped and apprehensive.
The woman’s eyes sparkle with a hint of amusement. “Of course you don’t,” her tone light. “So what’s wrong with you?”
“I don’t like ruining my lungs with toxins-“
“No, why’re you here,” the woman explains, leaning closer to Caitlyn, “at Piltover Psychiatric Center at one in the afternoon.”
Caitlyn feels the frustration mounting as the woman next to her continues her casual demeanor, her bright pink hair and relaxed manner putting Caitlyn on edge.
“I’m not sure I should disclose such information to other than personnel. And you don’t quite strike me as a psychiatrist. Are you even a doctor?” Caitlyn asks.
The woman downs the rest of her coffee in one big gulp and grins, “not by any definition.”or
Caitlyn is having one of the worst days of her life and ends up at Piltover Psychiatric Center. Here she meets Vi, and a quirky love story between two struggling souls evolves inside the walls of a psychiatric hospital.
