Summary
For centuries, Alexei has walked the path of immortality alone. Everything changes in 1986 when he discovers four fresh-faced immortals in Hawkins, Indiana. Chrissy Cunningham, Steve Harrington, Max Mayfield, and Eddie Munson are equally surprised when they learn they share the same regenerative healing abilities. Fearing their immortality may draw unwanted attention, they leave Hawkins behind them, but not before imprisoning Vecna at the bottom of Lovers’ Lake after realizing that he’s also immortal.
Under Alexei’s tutelage, the team becomes quite adept at fighting the battles others can’t, even if it means being riddled with bullets.
Decades later, the crew returns to Hawkins after a series of murders points to the reemergence of the Upside Down, which should be impossible. But not all in Hawkins is as it seems and they find themselves face to face with a new foe, a doctor who believes that he can use their immortality to further the scientific field of extending human life.
When Steve and Eddie get captured and the crew is struck by an unexpected tragedy, Max and Chrissy stage a daring rescue and will have to decide how far they’re willing to go to save their friends.

Steve pushes his hair back, and yet again, gravity instantly pulls it back down, since he’s looking at his feet. “…I don’t need anyone to worry about me.”
“Too fucking bad. Someone’s gotta do it, and it’s gonna be me.”
“Why?” Steve replies with a raspy laugh, shaking his head slowly.
“Why? Why.” Eddie crosses his arms tightly across his chest, knocking his foot into Steve’s again with a bit more strength. “Because we’re friends, dipshit.”
--In which Eddie's got a reason he's been planning on leaving Hawkins since long before the world almost ended. The only thing keeping him in town at this point? His promise to be friends with Steve Harrington. And Eddie doesn't break promises.

Then Nancy Wheeler told him he was bullshit. In the wreckage of the storm, he realized she probably hadn’t been that off base to call his life bullshit.
