So he does.
He stares.
Doesn’t move.
Usually, when people try to stay absolutely still, they can’t. They tremble with the effort, ever so slightly. Even if they don’t, their chest will rise and fall, or their heart will beat. Some part of them will always be moving.
Neal figured out a few weeks ago that that’s simply not true for him anymore.
His heart doesn’t beat. He doesn’t need to breathe. If he wanted to, he could cover himself in plaster and spend the rest of eternity as a statue.
He’s pretty sure the only parts of him doing anything right now are his salivary glands.Or; Keller is back in town, and he has a gift for Neal.

Summary
It’s late, they’re in Neal’s apartment, pouring over a case file, and it comes out of nowhere.
Peter huffs out a laugh,
“They usually come in after your first century or so.”
Neal nods, all business, and goes back to the case.And Peter realizes what needs to be done. He has a once-in-a-lifetime chance to pull the biggest prank ever, on the Neal Caffrey.
He texts El immediately.Or, four times Neal asks a silly question about his new state of being, and one time he raises a good point.

His fingers slip across the screen. There's a shadow somewhere in his peripheral view, and it doesn't make sense. The sun is shining directly on that spot, there literally can't be a shadow there.
It spreads, tendrils moving towards him.
What was he doing?
He frowns at his phone, open on Bobby's contact.
Oh. Right. He wanted to call Bobby to pick him up.
Didn't he have a shift today? He's not sure. Can't hurt to try, right?
Bobby won't punish him for trying to call him at work, he thinks.or, Buck fucks around and finds out.

"Sure thing. I'll be back to get you if I don't see you at the front desk."

Summary
Bobby dies. Or he doesn't. Either way, Buck has a hard time dealing with it.
Three standalone stories that are only connected through the fact that something happens to Bobby, and Buck tries to cope (and fumbles it so badly). And the fact that they belong together in my head.
1. "the opposite of being 'haunted by' seems awfully lonely":
Buck ignores four stages of grief and tries to jump right into acceptance. Too bad the thing he's accepting hasn't actually happened. Too bad he trips and lands ass first in denial about that part.
2. "when i die it'll be the smoke":
Buck ignores an important phonecall, spends time in El Paso, gets in a car crash, starts healing, and has a different part of his family come back to him.
3. "and i've tried having faith (but i'll rot like a dog)":
Buck scratches an itch. Eddie finds out. It doesn't go the way you would think. At least until he gets some new information from a friend.- Words:

Buck holds out his hands, and Tommy passes Persimmons over.
Instantly, Buck can feel her purring, and the minute she settles into his hands, she starts to knead, her tiny, little claws prickling his skin.
He melts, cooing and placing a gentle kiss on the top of her head. She's so small. No matter how many kittens and puppies he sees at work, it never gets old.
“Yeah, pets really are the best.” Buck replies, but he can't help but think about how that's how he feels about Tommy.
or, Buck is a vet tech and he meets Tommy when Tommy finds a tiny black kitten in the hood of his truck. He quickly falls in love with the kitten (and maybe the man himself).

“Who’s with you?”
And that’s when it hit Buck. Everyone had someone. Hen had Karen and Denny. Athena had May and Harry. Chim had Jee and Maddie. It was moments like this when Buck would have had Eddie. But maybe Eddie was never his to have in the first place.
They’re gonna need you. It was a lie. They wouldn’t need him. He needed them. But the dark side of his mind wondered if he needed Bobby more.

Bobby's always admired the bright optimism the kid holds onto. It's rare to see it waver and Bobby doesn't want to ever be the cause of its diminishment.
However—
"I fucked up," his voice comes out more broken than he wanted and his eyes fall shut again as he grips the edge of the kitchen sink.
