He swallowed, and Gamora wondered if she had ever seen him so vulnerable. Not for a long time, not since he had first come to Sanctuary, before he had been hardened. Just like her and Nebula had been. They had all been forged in the same flames, hadn’t they?
“Please, Sister?”
She looked at him, silent and trying to hide the fidgeting of his hands behind his back, and caught his eye, watching as he held his breath. She recalled what Drax had said: Family. She wanted hers whole.
And then Gamora smiled softly at her brother, and gestured up the gangplank. “Welcome aboard, Loki.”

What if Loki had never been sent to Earth by Thanos? What if he stayed on Sanctuary for years, spending time with Gamora and Nebula and others of the Black order until 2014, when he was sent with the sisters to aid Ronan in his quest? What if, soon after, Loki joined the Guardians of the Galaxy?

Remus uses his palm on Sirius’ mouth to halt whatever might come out of it next. “I’m supposed to be the overthinker, here, remember? I’m a grown man, I know what I was doing. I know what it meant. If you’re not sure, if you don’t feel the same –” Remus is stopped by Sirius’ tongue reaching out to swipe his palm, and he pulls it back, laughing, Sirius laughing with him.
They dissolve into helpless laughter for a couple of minutes, and then Sirius says, “Don’t ever think I’m not sure, don’t ever think I don’t feel about you. How I’ve always felt about you, still. Now. Always.”
Remus nods. They haven’t used the word yet, but he knows they will, and in the meantime, they don’t really need to. Sirius leans in to kiss him, and that’s sweet enough all on its own.

Sirius and Remus try to build a life together before, during and after The Order of the Phoenix. As usual, it doesn't go to plan, in ways both terrible and wonderful. -
